We have developed an Illness Prevention Protocol for the 2020-21 school year to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other viruses in our CCD program. These procedures are based on resources from the CDC, the Parish and the Archdiocese.
The health and safety of your children, your family, teachers and staff remain our top priority as we navigate this new reality. I want to emphasize that the protocol presented below is both an outline of our protocols and this information remains tentative as this is an ever-changing situation.
Without appropriate safety measures, we would be unable to fulfill our promise of providing the safest environment possible for students, teachers and volunteers.
We have created faith formation home-learning class webpages for each grade. These pages can be found in the left sub-menu column. These pages will provide students and families with activities and opportunities for continued faith formation. We strongly encourage your family to make use of these resources, especially while we are unable to attend mass in person.
We will be working toward a digital 2020-21 CCD registration process. Please be patient as we continue figure this out. I am cautiously preparing for the next school. I expect the year to begin as planned, but anything is possible. Please keep your eyes and ears open.
Confirmation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th. Please visit the Confirmation page for details, dates (still tentative) and information for the incoming 2020 Confirmation candidates. We strongly suggest both ninth and tenth grade students participate in the Ninth & Tenth Grade Sacramental Prep at-home-learning curriculum. This meaterial covers topics that both our ninth and tenth grade students have begun to explore in lessons presented in the 2019 - 20 school year. We suggest exploring one lesson a week.
Finally, the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion are tentatively scheduled for some time in October. For that to take place, there will need to be some sacramental preparation. The beginning of the school year is dedicated to faith formation, while the second half, that we missed this year, is spent preparing for the sacraments. We are working on a plan to offer a few short retreats to give students the understanding they need to receive these momentous sacraments. I will give you more information on this as plans are finalized. These students will move on to the third grade for CCD instruction while preparing to make their sacraments.
We strongly suggest second grade students participate in the Second Grade Sacramental Prep at-home-learning curriculum. This material was taken from the Blessed Frist Communion and Reconciliation programs by Dynamic Catholic. The material is a combination of Family Connection Activities and fun videos. We suggest exploring one lesson a week.
**UPDATE 4/29/2020
Due to Governor John Bel Edwards’ 2nd extension of the stay-at-home order, CCD will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-20 school year.
We will be adding class webpages in the coming weeks. These pages will provide students and families with activities and opportunities for continued faith formation. We strongly encourage your family to make use of these resources, especially while we are unable to attend mass in person.

We have compiled some resource links to help your family stay active in faith during this break.
Loyola Press has created a special lesson as a companion to Growing with God: Safe and Sacred™ child safety and Catholic family living program.
This Coronavirus Response Lesson helps educators, catechists, and parents discuss the COVID-19 virus with children and teach them valuable skills. This lesson offers prevention and mitigation techniques based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and includes a faith component to remind children of God’s unconditional love for them.
