A message from you CCD Instructor: Jill Morales
Parents, first off I would like to express that I really enjoyed teaching your children this year and that they all have participated in class. Unfortunately, just as everything else, CCD was put to a halt for the year. I wanted to share some things we covered this year and some things that you all may continue at home over the upcoming weeks to complete our 7th grade year program. (Virtues: FAITH, HOPE & LOVE)

Who is God?The Source of All Life – The class discussed that God created us to know him. He reveals who he is and gives us the gift of FAITH. The Church (we are the Church) gives witness to God’s Presence.
Continued Learning:
Today we are facing many challenges with all that is going on. As we know, our Church buildings are closed; however, our Catholic Mass, the celebration of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, continues to be celebrated daily. Our FAITH is what keeps us connected to God, and we need to keep this faith nourished and fed. I encourage you as a family to reflect on FAITH and engage in ways that your faith can be nourished.
Examples:- Praying and asking God to give strength and courage to walk this journey in life as well as praying for others who may be struggling. Every day as a family, share one thing that you can thank God for no matter how hard it may be. There are so many things that God gives us daily that we never see. Focusing on God will help us to see Him more in our life and will keep our faith alive and nourished, and we will witness God’s Presence in our lives.
- Read God’s Word. We have reviewed how to find passages and insight in Scripture. On Sundays, have the students find the Sunday readings in a bible and follow along with a live-streaming Mass. Fr. Ed has been live-streaming on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. This can be viewed at any time of the day.

Who is Jesus?The Promise of Salvation – The class discussed that God reaches out to help humankind. God offers his people the HOPE of Salvation. God promises a Messiah (Jesus Christ).
Continued Learning:
Students have learned that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. They have learned that He died on the cross to free us from sin, sin that entered into the world through Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God. They also know that the gate to Heaven was opened again by His death and resurrection.
Our gift of Faith from God allows us to have HOPE throughout our life as we come to know Jesus truly. Hope is very important in helping us throughout our lives. I encourage you to help your child to understand that with Jesus all things are possible and that God promised that he will help us by sending us a Savior, Jesus Christ.
Examples:-
Share stories with your child of when it was your Faith and Hope that saw you through a tough time. They really like to hear real-life experiences.

Share how you feel about Jesus, and share ways that you all can talk about him and his life as a child with his earthly parents, Mary and Joseph.

The Month of May is coming, and we honor Mary, Jesus’ mother. Say the Rosary as a family. How is Jesus Alive in the Church?Through the Sacraments, God shares his Life and LOVE with us. The Grace of the sacraments enables us to respond to God’s love. As the Church, we are united in Christ and celebrate his Paschal Mystery. The sacraments sanctify us and build up the Body of Christ. As we have not fully discussed this in class I encourage you to review this with your child.

Below is the list of the Seven Sacraments. Please review and discuss with your child. (Through the power of the Holy Spirit, each sacrament gives us grace. The grace that we receive in the sacraments is called Sanctifying Grace. Sanctifying Grace enables us to love God, to love ourselves as God loves us, to love others as we love ourselves, and to live as God calls us to live. )
- In the Sacrament of Baptism, we are welcomed into the Church, becoming children of God. Jesus welcomes all of those who wanted to follow him.
- In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we are sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples.
- In the Sacrament of the Eucharist, we receive Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life. Jesus nourished people’s bodies and souls.
- In the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation, we turn to God with sorrow for sin and receive his love and forgiveness. Jesus had compassion for sinners and assureds them of God’s mercy.
- In the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, people who are sick and suffering are helped and comforted. Jesus had special concern for the sick and the suffering and healed them.
- In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, baptized men are ordained to lead and serve the Church. Jesus chose the Apostles as leaders and empowered them to serve the whole Church.
- In the Sacrament of Matrimony, a baptized man and a baptized woman are strengthened for family life and service by their faithful love. Jesus loved his family and learned from their faithful love for one another.
