In this chapter the students will continue to learn more about Jesus. They will begin to understand that he is the Son of God and that we are called to follow him.

In this chapter the children will learn:

• Jesus invites people to follow him

Family Activity:  Liturgy Discussion
Make the connection between Jesus' teachings and the readings proclaimed at Mass. Point out that the gospel readings focus on Jesus' teaching. Have the students listen carefully to the gospel at Mass this week. Discuss the ways you can apply Jesus' teachings to your own lives.

Encourage the students to be creative. Work together as a fmaily and use  the  We Believe texts if they need suggestions of ways to share the good news of Jesus with others. Have fun and "showcase" the completed songs.

• The Church welcomes all to be baptized
• The parish community participates in the celebration of Baptism
• Water is an important sign of Baptism
• The baptized begin their new life as children of God

Family Activity:  Connection to the Arts
Find paintings and drawings of people being baptized. One painting you may wish to show is Piero della Francesca's The Baptism of Christ. Ask the students to look carefully at the painting and recall what they learned about Christ's baptism by John the Baptist.
